School uniform is an important symbol of pride and belonging, and is one of many measures that effectively connect students to their school and community. Student safety is vitally important, and with this in mind students are required to wear school uniform so that they can be easily identified as members of our school while in class and taking part in off-site activities. Students are required to comply with OH&S expectations while at school, and thus it is mandatory that all students wear polishable leather lace-up shoes for the protection of their feet. Our school has a specified uniform policy that has been ratified by school council. All students are expected to be in full uniform, and to keep their uniform neat and tidy while at school. Please mark all clothing with names so that lost items can be returned.

Hats: Hawkesdale P12 College is a Sun Smart School. This afilliation is sponsored by the Cancer Council and endorsed by the Department of Education and Training, and recognises the significant dangers of unprotected sun exposure to general health. Our school Sun Smart policy requires all students and staff to wear a hat at all times when outdoors during the summer months, with all members of our school community required to wear a hat for the duration of Terms One and Four. All
F-12 students must wear the designated school hat design, which each new student is provided with when they start at our school. Additional hats can be purchased from the office if they become misplaced. If students are without a hat they will be required to spend their recess and lunchtime under shelter, and if their class is outside for an activity and they are without a hat they will not be able to participate in that activity.
